FW Borchardt's plans for better eating

In 1853, August FW Borchardt laid the foundation stone for his restaurant, which was intended to introduce Berliners to a new food culture. His strategy of focusing on international dishes right from the start was extremely well received by the guests. Borchardt's cuisine quickly established itself as a major player in the capital and began to grow further thanks to its high potential for innovation.

In the course of this, in addition to the Borchardt wine bar, which was established early on, the company's wholesale business and its famous catering service soon developed. The orders just flew in so that one's own house could be decorated with one of the famous Borchardt banquets.

A new start in traditional garb

In 1992, the restoration of the rooms from the restaurant's early days was complete - and the new borchardt was reopened in the old look by Roland Mary. From the very beginning, the restaurant was firmly rooted in the capital and to this day Berliners associate it with a certain charm of internationality and cosmopolitan hospitality.
